A 33-year-old Woodstock man was killed at an excavation company in Volo after sustaining a traumatic injury to his arm shortly after noon Friday.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the man’s arm got stuck in a gravel-screening machine at the excavation company where he worked in the 30800 block of North Route 12.

It appeared the man attempted to free some rocks that may have been stuck in the hopper, and his entire right arm sustained major trauma, according to authorities.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived after another employee called 911, the man was already dead, according to authorities.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office was at the scene of the accident and has scheduled an autopsy for Tuesday.

The incident does not appear to be criminal in nature, officials said. However, authorities said it remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office andCoroner’s Office.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified of the incident, according to authorities.
