An unidentified man was struck and killed by an oncoming CTA Red Line train after falling off the platform in the Englewood neighborhood early Monday, police said.
The man, whose age was not known, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to a police media notification.
The man fell on the tracks at the CTA Red Line 69th Street station, 15 W. 69th St., around 2:15 a.m, according to police.
CTA officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment. After stopping service for a while between 69th and 95th Street, then bypassing 69th Street, trains resumed their regular runs about 5:30 a.m., according to CTA tweets.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details about the man’s identity or death, except that he was pronounced dead at 4:26 a.m. Area One detectives were investigating.
