In keeping with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and public health guidelines, all census-takers were required to complete a virtual COVID-19 training session to ensure that health and safety best practices are implemented. As such, all workers are to wear face masks.
Workers also will wear a government ID badge featuring their photo, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark and an expiration date. Anyone looking to confirm the identity of a census-taker may contact the Chicago regional census center at (312) 579-1500.
All census-takers speak English, though some are bilingual. If necessary, residents may request a return visit from a census-taker who speaks their language. A notice will be left at any home that misses a visit.
