A 45-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in the East Garfield Park neighborhood early Friday.

The man was walking north in the 500 block of South Sacramento Boulevard around 2:55 a.m. when he was hit by a light-colored SUV heading east on Congress Parkway, according to police.

The driver did not stop and the SUV and had not been located, police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead, according to police. Harrison Area detectives and the police major accidents unit were investigating.
