Customers will be required to mask up before entering all company-owned Starbucks locations in the U.S. beginning next week, the coffeehouse chain said Thursday.
The Seattle-based company said it will institute the requirement on July 15 across its more than 6,000 American locations in an effort to keep customers and workers safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Coffee drinkers without face coverings will have the option to snag their java at drive-thrus or via curbside pickup in regions without local mask mandates, according to Starbucks.
“The company is committed to playing a constructive role in supporting health and government officials as they work to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” Starbucks said

Last month, the nearly half-century-old chain said it would close 400 locations in preparation for post-coronavirus realities.
