Beyonce will receive a humanitarian award and the late Kobe Bryant will be honored in a star-studded, innovative online production of the BET Awards Sunday night.

And though the 2020 accolades went virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic, the pomp and sparkle not only pop, they’re amplified, broadcasting on both CBS and BET.

Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, Roddy Ricch, Chloe X Halle, John Legend, and Lil Wayne are among the stars set to to perform, according to ET Online. Amanda Seales hosts. But the BET trailer previewing highlights also promises some surprises too.

Beyoncé is set to receive the prestigious Humanitarian Award, adding to the 29 BET trophies she already has.

Beyonce’s BeyGOOD initiative has established several scholarships and philanthropic foundations, CNN noted.

The show will also be interactive. Viewers can vote for their faves, as always, and this year they can add their own star-studded background via Zoom, BET reported.

This year marks the first time the BET Awards will air on a legacy network – in this case, CBS – which should widen the audience and “confers a certain prestige and sense of cultural importance,” according to Billboard.

Amid nationwide protests against systemic racism and police brutality, the broadcast also expands the BET Awards’ potential reach.

A pre-show was set to air an hour ahead of the production, starting at 7 p.m. EDT. Both will be available for viewing on BET’s website as well.
