A man’s threatening a woman with a gun led to an hours-long standoff with a SWAT team at the man’s Bronzeville neighborhood apartment Thursday morning, police said.
Around 2:45 a.m, a 46-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were having a dispute inside the apartment in the 5000 Block of South Michigan Avenue, when the man pulled out a handgun and threatened the woman.
The 46-year-old man then became distracted and the woman was able to run out a back door and call for help, according to a police media notification.
The man then barricaded himself inside of the home and a SWAT team was dispatched to the scene.
Around 6:20 a.m, the 46-year-old man exited the home and was taken to the hospital for evaluation, according to police spokeswoman Karie James. Michigan Avenue near the home was still closed off around 7 a.m., according to police.
