Isolated thunderstorms popped up Wednesday afternoon in the Chicago area and over Lake Michigan, and the area could see more Wednesday evening, including a slight chance of thunderstorms, as temperatures continue to rise throughout the week.

Temperatures were expected to reach the mid-70s to low 80s with a chance for scattered showers Wednesday afternoon.

Isolated downpours and lightning storms began developing a little after noon from just south of Evanston north to Waukegan and in the near west suburbs and on the West Side, according to the National Weather Service.

There’s a limited chance of thunderstorms Wednesday night, according to the weather service.

But, Thursday’s weather should be beautiful, according to weather service meteorologist Gino Izzi. The area is expected to have clear skies and temperatures in the mid-80s.

There is still a chance of rain beginning Thursday night through Saturday, with the possibility of severe storms Friday evening.

Humidity will continue to increase across the area Friday, according to the weather service.

“Friday could just be breezy, hot and humid,” Izzi said.
