Salary increases have been approved for West Aurora School District administrators.

The West Aurora School District 129 board recently approved the raises for administrators for the coming school year.

The average administrator will receive a salary increase of 2.95%, depending on their longevity with the district, according to board documents.

Administrator salaries district-wide will grow by $103,000, West Aurora Assistant Superintendent of Operations Angie Smith said.

“This allows for savings on rehires and also includes any retirement incentives for those on retirement track,” Smith said in an email concerning the issue.

She said the board considered several factors before approving the raises including the district’s financial position and regional compensation for school administrators.

“Administrator compensation continues to be in the middle of area districts and these increases are in line with or lower than other groups within the district,” she added.

The raises cover 99 district administrators, including principals, assistant principals, deans, directors and others.

“We want to attract and retain talent throughout our organization,” Smith said of the salary increases.
