The CTA Red and Purple lines were running with delays Monday morning on the North Side after a power outage near the Wilson “L” stop caused service to be suspended for several hours.

Red Line service was suspended for several hours between the Belmont and Howard stations, starting around 4:30 am, according to CTA alerts and resumed a little after 8 a.m. Service was also suspended on the Purple Line between Howard and the Loop starting about an hour after the Red Line stoppage. Trains still operated on the Purple Line between Linden and Howard.

The CTA offered shuttles between Howard and Belmont stations and recommended riders to consider taking No. 22 Clark and No. 36 Broadway buses.

There was still no information on the cause of the outage a little before 8 a.m., according to a CTA spokeswoman. A ComEd spokesperson said the company was not dealing with a power outage related to CTA lines.
