player ready...With the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District’s two locations being shuttered for more than two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, officials announced Friday that they will begin to offer curbside pickup of materials for residents starting June 1.
The curbside pickup at the Winnetka Library building, which first requires patrons to place holds online for materials they are requesting, will be available by appointment only, seven days a week, between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Once the requested hold for a material has been filled, a library staff member will reach out to the resident and schedule a time to arrive for the curbside pickup, library spokeswoman Sarah Quish said in an email statement.
“To keep us all safe, we will meet you outside and place materials in your popped trunk or on a table for walk-up service,” Quish said. “Please enjoy your materials and hang on to them until we announce that we are ready to accept returns.”
To ensure the safety of the library’s staff, employees working at the new curbside service will be provided with disposable gloves, masks, and other equipment as needed, Quish said.
“Thank you for your understanding that there may be extended waiting times to receive newly placed holds due to increased demand,” Quish said, adding: “We are excited to be able to serve patrons during this difficult time, and look forward to seeing you at a curbside appointment soon.”
The Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District buildings will remain closed to the public until further notice.
