Waukegan High School has a new co-principal after its last died unexpectedly at the beginning of the school year, the district announced this week.

The job of running both campuses of Waukegan High School, the state’s largest high school, fell to lead Principal Timothy Bryner after Terry Ehiorobo died in October.

Ehiorobo, who led the school’s Washington Campus where juniors and seniors are primarily housed, will be succeeded starting July 1 by Daniel Hill, according to a news release.

Like Bryner, who was principal of Abbott Middle School before taking over the top job at Waukegan High School, Hill has a history as a principal with Waukegan District 60.

Hill has spent 18 years with Waukegan District 60 as a teacher and administrator, according to a news release. He joined the district in 2002 as a math teacher at Jack Benny Middle School, where he was promoted to dean of discipline in 2008.

Hill was hired in 2011 as the assistant principal at Abbott Middle School, and then in 2015 as principal of Clearview Elementary School, according to the release.

“I love the Clearview community dearly and I am going to miss them all, but I am excited to begin work as the Co-Principal of Waukegan High,” Hill said in the release. “I’m looking forward to joining the team in the work of fulfilling our school and district mission. My personal mission is to ensure the best educational services for every student, every day.”

Originally from Chicago, Hill has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and master’s degrees in educational leadership from Saint Xavier University and the American College of Education, according to the release and an online biography. He is a Waukegan resident and has three sons, now grown, who attended Waukegan schools.
