Say hello to your new director.
Luca Guadagnino is set to direct Universal Pictures’ upcoming “Scarface” reboot, Deadline reported Thursday.
The 48-year-old “Call Me By Your Name” Oscar nominee — who also helmed the 2018 “Suspiria” remake — is the third director brought onto the project, which has been in development since 2011.
David Ayer, who wrote and directed the widely the widely panned original “Suicide Squad,” was removed in 2017 because Universal dubbed his interpretation of the gangster flick “too dark,” Forbes reported at the time.
And prior to the removal of “Training Day” screenwriter Ayer, “Training Day” director Antoine Fuqua was set to helm the “Scarface” remake.”
The most recent iteration of the forthcoming film was written by the Coen brothers, who have been involved for at least three years.

Unlike Brian De Palma’s 1983 version of “Scarface,” which was set in Miami and starred Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer, and Howard Hawks’ 1932 version that took place in Chicago, this remake will be set in Los Angeles.
