The Miramar (Fla.) police department issued an arrest warrant on Thursday for Giants corner DeAndre Baker for four counts of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred Wednesday night.
The affidavit also says one of Baker’s accomplices was wearing a red mask and alleges, according to testimony from multiple witnesses, that “Baker directed the assailant in the red mask to shoot (an unnamed person), who was just walking into the party.”
Seattle Seahawks corner Quinton Dunbar also has a warrant out for his arrest connected to the incident for four counts of armed robbery.

The affidavit and application for arrest warrant, submitted by Detective Mark Moretti of the Miramar Police Department, states that at approximately 11 pm Wednesday, Baker, 22, was “armed with a semi-automatic firearm” and “took money and watches belonging to the victim(s) with force” at a party at a Miramar residence.
Baker is charged with aggravated assault because he allegedly “intentionally and unlawfully threatened the victim(s) with a firearm, creating a reasonable fear that violence or harm is imminent.”
A witness said under oath that Baker “pointed a gun at him and he was in fear for his life.”
One witness said Baker and Dunbar had lost “about $70,000” at a party in Miami two nights prior. Multiple witnesses said Baker and his cohorts had getaway cars “pre-positioned outside the residence in a manner that would facilitate an expedited departure from the residence.”
Baker and his accomplices are alleged to have stolen at gunpoint, in order of the alleged victims’ listed items stolen: $7,000 in U.S. currency and a $25,000 Hublot watch; $4,000 in U.S. currency and a $17,500 Audemars Piguet watch; $600 in U.S. currency and “a Richard Mille knock-off valued at $600.”
The Giants released a statement saying: “We are aware of the situation. We have been in contact with DeAndre. We have no further comment at this time.”
The NFL released a statement: “We are aware of the matter but will decline further comment at this time.”
The Athletic reported that Baker hadn’t participated in the Giants’ virtual meeting on Thursday or any of the club’s other voluntary minicamp meetings this week.
Dave Gettleman traded up into the back of the first round last year to draft Baker No. 30 overall out of Georgia. Baker had a horrible work ethic and attitude as a rookie and it reflected in poor play. He admitted to not being in his playbook until the back third of the year.
Gettleman has made a big deal about cleaning up the “culture” left behind by former GM Jerry Reese. It was one of his primary stated goals when he took over in Dec. 2018.
Gettleman traded Odell Beckham Jr. in March 2019 and when asked a month later by NJ.com if he had a culture problem with the Giants, he smiled and said “not anymore.”

After cutting Janoris Jenkins this winter, Gettleman declared “he’s it, he was it” of the culture problems he had to clean out of the Giants’ building.
