A 60-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday night during an argument with another man outside a home in Harvey, police said.
The argument began on the front porch of a home in the 14400 block of Des Plaines Street between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. and escalated when one of the men shot the other in the chest, police Chief Robert Collins said.
The man who was shot was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
He was identified as Charles Hartzol, of Riverdale, and his death has been ruled a homicide.
Collins said police have identified a suspect in the shooting and are in the process of searching for him to take him into custody. Hartzol and the suspect were previously acquainted, he said.
