player ready...The Lake County Sheriff’s office is investigating two crashes that left two Lake County men in critical condition Saturday, Sgt. Christopher Covelli, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said Monday.
A 55-year-old Wadsworth man driving a Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle lost control and crashed around 6:10 p.m. Saturday in a parking lot in the 25900 block of Riverwoods Road in Mettawa. He was not wearing a helmet.
“For an unknown reason, he accelerated at a high rate of speed, causing the front wheel of the Honda to rise from the roadway,” according to a release issued Monday by the Lake County Sheriff’s office.
An ambulance transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was in critical condition.
In Beach Park, a 22-year-old North Chicago man driving a Chevrolet Impala crossed into the northbound lanes of Sheridan Road near Mawman Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Saturday striking a Nissan Rogue head-on.
The North Chicago man was taken by ambulance to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan and listed in critical condition. The driver of the Nissan, a 37-year-old Waukegan man, was transported with minor injuries.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit is conducting the investigations.
