She thought this dress was a mess, but now it’s back in the press.
Gwyneth Paltrow is auctioning off the dress she wore to the Academy Awards in 2000, she announced on Instagram.
Paltrow, 47, will be donating the money as part of the All In Challenge

, in which celebrities are offering various things and sending the money to food organizations that are helping fight the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.“I am donating a dress I wore to the Oscars (and that holds great sentimental value!) which I will personally hand to you over a cup of tea or a glass of wine,” the actress wrote in the post.
But the dress didn’t always hold much “sentimental value” for Paltrow. In a 2013 post on her Goop blog, Paltrow bashed the gray Calvin Klein number.
“It’s an okay dress but not Oscars material. I chose it because I wanted to disappear that year,” she said.
In the seven years since, however, Paltrow’s opinions of the dress have changed, or so she said.
“It’s very end-of-the-’90s, which is back in style now so I thought it would be a good one to donate,” Paltrow said in the video.
Paltrow had won Best Actress at the 1999 Academy Awards for her role in “Shakespeare in Love,” which also won Best Picture that year.
So far, the All In Challenge has raised more than $11 million.
