The staff at La Grange Hospital is getting fed with the help of thoughtful community members. Not only are businesses and individuals ordering meals for the hard-working healthcare workers, members of Grace Lutheran Church in Western Springs donated granola and energy bars.

“The point is to recognize and help stressed hospital workers and paramedics with something they can eat on the run,” said Rob Kulat, a member of Grace Lutheran.

The pastor, the Rev. Matthew Zickler, sent an email to the congregation about the collection on April 6 and five days later there were 12 bags of snacks.

“Some were healthy, like granola bars and Sun chips, and some were not so healthy, like gummi candy,” Zickler said.

It’s likely all were appreciated.

“This is a tough time for those on the front line,” Kulat said.

Marianno’s grocery store in Western Springs donated bags for the church volunteers to pack the food in for delivery to the hospital, Kulat said.
