This time Sting kept his shirt on.

The former Police frontman teamed with Jimmy Fallon and band members from the Roots — all situated from their respective homes in the social-distancing era — on Thursday night to perform a unique version of the 1980 hit song “Don’t Stand So Close to Me.”

The new version of the Grammy-winning, “Lolita”-influenced tune has Sting, 68, on lead vocals and guitar while Fallon provides backup.

Roots bandmates utilize some unorthodox instruments — a pillow, shoes, melodica, sousaphone and yes, even a Connect 4 game — to pull off a surprisingly slick rendition.

In the original song’s video, Sting portrayed a bespectacled teacher smitten by an alluring, long-haired female student “half his age.” As the video concluded, the musician took off his button-down shirt while sitting at his desk.

“Don’t Stand So Close to Me” was a monster hit in the United Kingdom, assuming the No. 1 spot for four weeks. In the U.S., it peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song also won the Police a 1982 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
