A Round Lake Beach police officer was shot Sunday while intervening in a domestic dispute, authorities said.
The Lake County Major Crime Task Force is investigating the incident, which began after an unidentified officer responded to a home in the 100 block of Golfview Drive.
After a fight broke out between the officer and one of the people involved in the dispute, police said the person began reaching for the officer’s holstered handgun, which went off and wounded the officer in the leg.
The officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the suspect was arrested, according to police.
