An issue with artists visas has delayed this weekend’s planned performance of “Spirit Child,” in what was to have been a U.S. debut for Nigerian choreographer Qudus Onikeku, according to an announcement Tuesday from the Dance Center of Columbia College.

Temporary artist visas were not obtained for four musicians coming from Lagos, Nigeria as part of the project. Onikeku will instead be part of the Dance Center’s 2020-21 fall dance season, full schedule to be announced May 1. (The scheduled performances of Abby Z and the New Utility are still on for April 9-11.)

Those holding tickets for “Spirit Child” March 13-14 can contact the Dance Center box office at 312-369-8330.
