player ready...A new fitness center is expected to open this week in the former Sanfratello’s pizzeria in Tinley Park’s Junction Plaza at 179th Street and 80th Avenue.
Anytime Fitness has been remodeling the former restaurant at 17823 S. 80th Avenue for several months and is expected to open a new franchised location there on Friday.
Anytime Fitness centers are accessible seven days a week, 24 hours per day.
The chain is headquartered in Woodbury, Minn., and operates over 4,000 franchised locations in 50 countries.
New locations are also under construction in Crete, Manhattan and Minooka.
Sanfratello’s closed in September 2015 because of a sprinkler leak, the pizzeria said at the time. It promised to reopen but never did. Owners did open a new location in Naperville in 2016, but that location has since closed.
The original Sanfratello’s opened in 1969 in Glenwood, but closed years ago.
Two locations remain open in Dyer and Highland in northwest Indiana.

Work is progressing on the rebuild, but no reopening date has been announced.
New Metra station in Summit
Commuters who catch Metra’s Heritage Corridor trains in Summit have two new heated shelters and larger platforms to use each day.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday. The new shelters are part of an ongoing program by Metra to improve commuting, said Demetri Skoufis of Metra’s community relations department.
“We extended the platforms. These shelters are brand new. We touched up the old shelter (which is west of the new),” Skoufis said. “We’re trying to identify where we need covered, heated space,” Skoufis said of similar improvements at other stops.
Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said the cost was about $20,000 in materials and labor. It was funded with local funds, he said. The Summit station is used by about 100 people a day, Gillis said.
