A Lake Barrington man was charged this week with numerous burglaries in three different counties, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The charges followed a warrant search of the man’s home, which authorities say turned up a large variety of alleged stolen goods.

“We found evidence that would indicate he possessed any property of value — electronics, clothing, gift cards, golf clubs, and more,” sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said Thursday morning in describing the cache of valuables allegedly found in the man’s home.

Hunter Grabowski, 24, was arrested Wednesday, and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s office approved two counts of burglary charges against him, according to Covelli, who said additional charges are pending in a case involving burglary incidents in Lake, McHenry and Cook County.

He was also charged with one count of possession of ammunition without a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card after detectives found ammunition in his bedroom, according to authorities.

The extent of stolen the items was revealed after members of the sheriff’s Warrants Team served an arrest warrant on Grabowski Wednesday at his residence in the 500 block of Beacon Drive in Lake Barrington on Wednesday. Grabowski was wanted on a $50,000 failure to appear arrest warrant for previous theft charges, and also was the suspect in several area car burglaries, according to the sheriff’s office.

While serving the warrant, deputies located property that was recently stolen in a nearby burglary, officials said.

Grabowski was transported to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, and detectives obtained a search warrant for Grabowski’s residence. Covelli said that while conducting the search warrant, sheriff’s detectives located more than 100 items stolen during vehicle burglaries in Lake, McHenry and Cook counties.

The property of several victims who previously filed reports with their respective sheriff’s office/police departments was recovered at Grabowski’s residence, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Breaking into someone’s home or vehicle and stealing their hard-earned property is despicable and a complete violation of their privacy,” Sheriff John Idleburg said in a written release. “I am happy our detectives recovered a significant amount of property and they will eventually be able to reunite the valuables with their owners.”

Grobowski was in the custody of Lake County jail Thursday morning with a bond hearing pending.

In December 2018, Grabowski was also arrested by the sheriff’s office and charged in connection with a vehicle burglary in which electronics were reported stolen, according to a statement issued at that time. The statement added that Grabowski was also suspected of committing other car burglaries in Fox River Grove and Crystal Lake.
