Emergency repairs to a Union Pacific Railroad crossing will close Russell Road Friday morning west of Green Bay Road, with the closure scheduled to end by early afternoon.

According to a statement from the Lake County Division of Transportation, Union Pacific officials reported that crews plan to start repair work at 9 a.m. and reopen the crossing at 2 p.m.

Local traffic will be allowed on Russell from Kilbourne Road east to the railroad crossing and from Green Bay Road west to the crossing. All traffic will be closed at the crossing itself. The posted detour will send east-west traffic to Route 173.
