A 37-year-old Joliet man has been charged in connection with a Dec. 20 shooting that killed a man and injured a woman in Joliet, according to a police news release.

Quentin Woods, 38, was killed in the shooting on the 800 block of Sherwood Place and a woman was rushed to Saint Joseph Hospital in Joliet for treatment of a gunshot wound, police said.
Mathew Rutledge was charged with first degree murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm in connection, according to police and a complaint filed Tuesday in Will County court.
“The investigation determined that this was an isolated incident which developed from a dispute and escalated to Rutledge shooting both victims,” Joliet police Lt. Joseph W. Egizio was quoted in a news release. Rutledge was eventually booked and taken to the Will County jail.
