Fresh off their romp of the Jets, the New England Patriots fortified their receiving corps for good measure.

Early Tuesday morning the Patriots traded a second round draft pick for Atlanta Falcons’ veteran wide receiver Mohamed Sanu.

The 30-year-old New Brunswick, N.J., native confirmed the early reports, tweeting: “I appreciate everything the organization has done for my family & I. Mr. Blank, TD, Coach Q, & everyone through the organization, I am forever grateful for the opportunity. To my Teammates & fan y’all know how I feel about y’all love y’all to death. #ThankYou

Wide receiver Mohamed Sanu, r, has been traded to the Patriots.

Sanu had been with the Falcons since the 2016 season after spending four seasons with the Bengals. In seven games with Atlanta (1-6) this season Sanu had 33 receptions for 313 yards and one touchdown.

The 6-foot-2 215-pound Sanu already is well acquainted with a few Patriots, having played with Devin McCourty and Duron Harmon at Rutgers.

The Patriots (7-0) did have a need at receiver (the Antonio Brown experiment didn’t last long and Josh Gordon is dealing with knee/ankle issues), but will have to clear some space elsewhere on their roster to fit and pay their new receiver.

Sanu is still owed about $3.5 million in salary this season, but the Patriots only have $2.5 million in cap space available.

His contract will keep him in New England until the end of the 2020 season.
