Two men were shot, one fatally, early Thursday on a residential street in Robbins, officials said.
Police responded to a call for multiple shots fired at the intersection of 135th Place and Keystone Avenue around 1:30 a.m. and found a man down in the middle of the street, village spokesman Sean Howard said.

The man, who had been shot multiple times in the chest, was pronounced dead on the scene, Howard said. He was identified as Dexter Brown, 34, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Howard said Brown had four children and lived in Riverdale.
Another man was shot in the foot after being caught in the gunfire, but escaped around the corner where residents came to his aid and called an ambulance, Howard said. He remained hospitalized Thursday afternoon with non-life-threatening injuries and is being questioned by police, the spokesman said. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the second victim had been with Brown when the shooting occurred.
Howard said Brown had been on his way to pick up his girlfriend from her grandmother’s house when he was shot in what police believe was a targeted hit.
After parking in a driveway across from the house, Brown got out of his vehicle and was crossing the street when at least one person approached on foot and started firing, the spokesman said.
A motive was not immediately clear.
Both Robbins police and the Cook County sheriff’s office are investigating what was the village’s first homicide this year, Howard said.
Residents on the tight-knit block where the shooting happened have aided the investigation by sharing what they know with police and providing investigators video from their home surveillance systems, he said.
While no one is in custody, Howard said police are confident they know who they are looking for.
