A man wanted on two felony warrants was facing more charges after a domestic dispute that ended when he was tased following a two-hour-long standoff with police while he was barricaded inside a Beach Park home Saturday morning, police said.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies were called to a domestic dispute about 7:20 a.m. at a home in the 13400 block of Victoria Lane in Beach Park, where they found one of the people involved in the fight was 45-year-old Brian O. Harper, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

When officers moved closer to Harper, who was wanted on two active felony warrants for driving on a revoked license and aggravated fleeing and eluding, he barricaded himself inside, but the female who called 911 about the domestic fight was able to get out before that happened.

As deputies outside the house started negotiating with Harper, he began “taunting” them, saying they should “kick in the door and come get him,” the statement said.

A break came after about two hours, when Harper agreed to open the door and surrender, but then police saw him open a garage service door, quickly slam it shut and retreat back into the home.

Police then broke down the door, and Harper was tased after he “continued to resist,” police said.

Harper, who was additionally charged with resisting a peace officer and criminal damage to property, was taken into custody without further incident and to Lake County Jail in Waukegan, where he was being held on $150,000 bail.

Harper is of the 3100 block of West Grandville Avenue in north suburban Waukegan.
