A man was shot and an officer was injured Monday during a shooting between police and at least one robbery suspect at an used car dealership in Dolton, officials said.
A Dolton officer shot a suspect in the leg during the incident at Sibley Car Credit in the 500 block of Sibley Boulevard, Dolton Mayor Riley Rogers said.
The officer, who shot the suspect, dislocated a shoulder as he dove for cover when shots were fired at him, Dolton Trustee Andrew Holmes said. The officer was not shot, he said.
It is not clear whether both suspects fired shots at the officer, Holmes said.
The shooting incident happened after police responded to a report of an alleged armed robbery at the dealership, Rogers said. A wallet and gun were taken from the dealership’s manager, he said.
The second suspect fled the scene, Rogers said. Officers from several police agencies searched for the suspect.
The conditions of both injured individuals were not immediately available.
