A man’s body was found Thursday evening in Lake Michigan off the city’s Gold Coast, authorities said.
Someone called 911 after spotting a body in the water in the “Playpen” area off the 800 block of North Lake Shore Drive, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. “We had a full water response, but when we got there, the person was already deceased,” Langford said.

Crews were called to the area about 6:45 p.m. Thursday and police marine unit officers found the body of the man in the water, according to a police media notification.
The identity of the man had not yet been released Friday morning. There is a chance he is the man who disappeared about a week ago in that same area.
“They’re trying to determine if he was the boat hopper from the weekend,” Langford said.
Area Central detectives were investigating, according to police.
