On Wednesday, Theatre At The Center announced its 30th anniversary season including “Hello Dolly!” and “Talley’s Folly.”
The 2019-20 season will open with “Almost Heaven-John Denver’s America” (Feb. 13-March 22, 2020). Artistic director Linda Fortunato will direct this musical tribute to the life and career of John Denver.
Next, David New will direct Lanford Wilson’s “Talley’s Folly” (Apr. 30-May 31, 2020). Wilson’s romantic comedy follows the unlikely pairing of Matt and Sally and will star real-life sweethearts Linda Fortunato and Sean Fortunato.
The third show will be “Ain’t Misbehavin'” by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr. (July 9-Aug. 9, 2020). Daryl Brooks will direct this musical that travels back to a nightclub during the Harlem Renaissance.
Then, Fortunato will direct “Hello Dolly!” (Sept. 10-Oct. 11, 2020). Featuring music and lyrics by Jerry Herman with book by Michael Stewart. E. Faye Butler will star in the title role of Dolly Levi.
Finally, “Elf, The Musical” with book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin, music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Begueline will conclude the season (Nov. 12-Dec. 20., 2020). Fortunato will direct this musical based on the 2003 film.
