Chicago police were searching for a 13-year-old boy who they say shot and wounded a 17-year-old in his right leg during an argument Tuesday afternoon in a home in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North Mason Avenue, police said in a statement. The 13-year-old took out a handgun, fired at the 17-year-old and then ran away.
The teen who was shot was taken to Loyola University Medical Center and was stabilized.
Police recovered a gun at the scene. Area North detectives are investigating.
