A substitute teacher is replacing Will County board member Don Moran who retired from his post in May.
Margaret Tyson, D-Bolingbrook, was sworn in Thursday after board members unanimously approved her to fill the seat in District 3, which covers Romeoville and parts of Bolingbrook as well as Wheatland, DuPage, Plainfield and Lockport townships. Tyson will serve out the reminder of Moran’s term, which expires in 2020.
“Margaret will be a great addition to the Will County board,” said Board Speaker Denise Winfrey, D-Joliet. “We have a lot of impactful projects moving forward and it’s important that we work with a full roster.”
Tyson is a substitute teacher in Valley View School District 365 and Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202. She has been active in Wheatland Township as a volunteer and involved in community government, according to a news release from the county board.
“I’m eager to listen to other people’s ideas and opinions and also to share my ideas for county government,” Tyson said in the news release. “This is a great opportunity to contribute to my community.”
She will join Beth Rice, another Bolingbrook Democrat to represent the district.
