A pickup truck crashed into and through a building in the Kilbourn Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side early Wednesday after the driver suffered a medical emergency, police said.

The 36-year-old driver crashed his Chevrolet Silverado into the building in the 4200 block of West Belmont Avenue about 5:15 a.m., Officer Jennifer Bryk, a police spokeswoman, said in an email.

Damage can been seen to the back of a warehouse in the alley behind the 4200 block of West Belmont Avenue after a pickup hit the empty warehouse, drove through the building and out the other side into the alley on Feb. 27, 2019.

The driver declined medical attention after the crash, but a man who was near the crash site at the time said that a brick hit and injured him, and he was taken to Community First Medical Center, where he was initially in good condition, Bryk said.

Police did not have information on what type of medical emergency the driver suffered. No information was released about any citations issued in the crash.

Following the crash, police cordoned off the front of the one-story brick building on Belmont. Debris from the crash, including bricks and other building materials, littered the alley where the pickup had crashed through the back wall of the building.
