For Navy fans, 2019 is a good year as the Blue Angels are slated for six air shows while the Air Force Thunderbirds are slated for only one show.
The year, though, will also feature the debut of the touring F-35 demonstration team and several other air shows on the calendar.
First, the busy Blue Angels will make three springtime visits, one summer stop and two fall visits to Florida.
First up is the Southernmost Air Show at Naval Air Station Key West on March 30-31 (airshowkeywest.com). The Blue Angels then head to Central Florida as the headline for the Sun’n-Fun Fly-in Expo on April 6-7 (flysnf.org/sun-n-fun-intl-fly-expo

). They then head back south for the Fort Lauderdale Air Show on May 4-5 (fortlauderdaleairshow.com).Their summer return is the traditional Pensacola Beach Airshow on July 13 (visitpensacolabeach.com/whats-happening-blue-angels) and their fall stops are at the Jacksonville Sea and Sky Spectacular Oct. 26-27 and their annual Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow at NAS Pensacola on Nov. 8-9 to finish their season (naspensacolaairshow.com).
The Air Force Thunderbirds were originally scheduled for a spring show in Florida at Tyndall Air Force Base, but that show was canceled due to damage from Hurricane Michael in 2018. They will make their traditional fly-over for the Daytona 500 on Feb. 17, but won’t return to Florida for any aerobatics until the Florida International Air Show in Punta Gorda on Nov. 1-3 (floridaairshow.com).
The Air Force will be headline the 2019 Melbourne Air & Space Show (airandspaceshow.com), though, with the North American debut of the U.S. Air Force F-35 Lightning II Demo Team on March 30-31.
The show enters its sixth year, once again performing at Orlando-Melbourne International Airport. The F-35 team will also visit the Miami Beach Air & Sea Show on May 25-2 (usasalute.com) and Jacksonville Sea and Sky Spectacular alongside the Blue Angels in the fall.
Two other shows on tap for 2019 is the 42nd annual Space Coast Warbird Air Show in Titusville on March 15-17 (valiantaircommand.com/airshow) and the return of the New Smyrna Beach Balloon & SkyFest on Nov. 8-10 (newsmyrnabeachballoonandskyfest.com).
Despite the light 2019 for the Thunderbirds, 2020 is geared up for four visits including a new air show in Sanford.
The preliminary schedule for next year includes Lakeland’s Sun’n-Fun Fly In & Expo on April 4-5, Fort Lauderdale Air Show on May 2-3, Miami Beach Air & Sea Show on May 23-24 and new Orlando Sanford Air Show to be held at the Orlando Sanford International Airport on Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
The preliminary schedule for the Blue Angels also has the team making four visits.
