Isabella Calderon is a freshman at East Leyden High School. She is a member of the concert choir and also participates in the GraceNotes group.

A: I grew up in River Grove. I’m a freshman at East Leyden High School.
Q: What activities are you involved in at East Leyden?
A: I’m in concert choir. I’m also in GraceNotes, which is an all-girls choir for freshman and sophomores.

A: I like everything. I’ve been singing for a long time. Singing puts me in a good mood. The concerts are fun.
Q: How has music affected you throughout your life?
A: It has affected me a lot. I’ve been singing since I was a little girl. Choir takes up a lot of my time. I really enjoy it.
Q: What do you like the most about East Leyden?
A: I like all the opportunities. No matter what you’re interested in, they have something to offer you.
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
A: Everything! I like a cappella, pop, rap and Spanish music.
Q: Who is your favorite artist?
A: Right now, my favorite artist is probably Drake.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: I want to go to college. I would like to go to school out of state. I was thinking about University of California, Los Angeles. I was thinking about going into something music-related or becoming a teacher.
Q: What do you plan on doing for Christmas?
A: I plan on being with my family. We’re going to open up presents and be together.
