Children in Oak Brook got an early taste of Halloween Friday and Saturday with a walk through a haunted forest.

Since 2003, the Oak Brook Park District has transformed the pathways of Central Park to feature a 10,000-plus square foot haunted maze with music, lights, fog, strobe lights and creepy characters.

For those not interested in taking a chance of being scared in the haunted maze, the event also included an inflatable bounce house, crafts, pumpkin patch, face painting, fireside storytelling, candy in the haystack and tractor-pulled hayrides.

The park district continues the Halloween theme at 6 p.m. Friday with its Pumpkin Swim at the Family Aquatic Center, 1450 Forest Gate Road.

Pumpkin hunters will search for capsules filled with candy and real pumpkins and are asked to arrive in swimming attire 15 minutes prior to their start time.

Registration, by age groups, may be completed online at www.obparks.org
