Believe it or not, basketball season is coming up soon. The Chicago Bulls kicked off training camp this Tuesday, and the NBA’s opening day is less than three weeks away.
The Bulls had an eventful off-season, most notably bringing back former Simeon star and Chicago native Jabari Parker. Following a rebuilding campaign last season, anticipation is high for the team’s young core, and fans will have their first chance to enjoy that energy with a kickoff celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 2 in Daley Plaza (50 W. Washington St.).
The event features plenty of festivities for fans. Former Bulls greats Horace Grant and Toni Kukoc, as well as mascot Benny the Bull, will be present to hang out with attendees. Fans will also have an opportunity to take a photo with the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy and the Bulls NBA Championship rings.
Complimentary bites will be provided by Garrett Popcorn, while Fat Shallot and Beavers Donuts trucks will have food available for purchase. The event will also feature music, games and giveaways as part of the entertainment.
The event is also sponsored by American Express, which means AmEx cardholders can receive some special perks, according to the press release, including a half-off discount at food trucks, a priority lane for all Chicago Bull photo opps and meet-and-greets and the chance to try on all six Championship rings.
Guests must be 21 or over to attend, and the space is limited to first come, first served.
