Police continued to investigate the incident, which happened at 10 a.m. and could not confirm why the man jumped from the overpass. He was airlifted to a local hospital and later succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
Eastbound traffic on I-80 was shut down at LaGrange Road and the 80th Avenue overpass also was closed to motorists for about two hours, officials said.
The incident did not cause additional accidents on the roads, police said.
