Kicking things off in the fall will be “The Last Session,” with book by Jim Brochu and music and lyrics by Steve Schalchlin, with additional lyrics by John Bettis and Marie Cain (Oct. 26 – Dec. 2). Based on the lyricist’s own experiences with AIDS, the show reunites a group of singers, friends and band mates to record one final album.
The second show will be the Chicago premiere of “Hands on a Hardbody,” based on S.R. Bindler’s documentary film of the same name (March 22 – May 5, 2019). Written by Doug Wright with music by Trey Anastasio and lyricist Amanda Green, the show chronicles a contest in which 10 hard-luck Texans brave the scorching heat and compete to keep one hand on truck in order to take home the keys.
Tickets for both shows go on sale today.
