With three seats on the Park Ridge-Niles District 64 board up for grabs in this spring’s election, officials will host an information session for prospective candidates.

The session is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at Roosevelt ElementarySchool, and it is designed to provide an opportunity for those considering a run for the board to informally ask questions of current and former board members about the time commitment and challenges involved in serving on the seven-member board.

The session will include a short presentation from current board members and a question-and-answer session, officials said.

The first day for candidates to begin collecting signatures is Sept. 18, and nominating petitions are due to Dec. 17 to the Cook County Clerk’s office. The nonpartisan election will take place April 2, 2019.

The seats held by board President Anthony Borrelli as well as board members Mark Eggemann and Tom Sotos are up for election. The winners will serve four-year terms.

Borrelli was elected to the District 64 board in 2011, and won re-election in 2015 as the top vote-getter. Eggemann and Sotos are in their first terms on the board.

The terms of board members Rick Biagi, Fred Sanchez, Eastman Tiu and Larry Ryles, who were elected

in 2017, expire in 2021.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens and registered voters older than 18 and must have lived in District 64 for more than one year.
