A 17-year-old former student is accused of bringing a replica weapon into Oswego High School Thursday.
The incident led to a brief lockdown of the school Thursday morning. Once the lockdown was lifted, students resumed with the regular daily schedule, according to a statement from the school district.
The teen has been charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor, according to a press release from the Oswego Police Department.
Police said the teen entered the school building under false pretenses and had in his possession a plastic replica airsoft gun, according to the release.
School officials were informed that the replica weapon was not a threat to the safety of the students, according to a District 308 press release.
They said the item was found in a student’s backpack in a locker.
