player ready...Being only 4 months old didn’t prevent Sebastian Letizia of Clarendon Hills from having a fun time Friday at the Clarendon Hills Park District’s Touch-a-Truck event at Prospect Park.
Touch-A-Truck allows children the opportunity to see, touch, and get into and on a variety of vehicles, such as a tractor, fire truck, police squad and pink cement mixer.
“He likes being outside, and he’s in a grabbing phase right now,” said Sebastian’s mom, Gelisa.
Sebastian didn’t even seem to mind some help from his dad, Steven, who took him over the to front of the fire truck to ring the bell.
Jack Whiteside, 2, of Clarendon Hills, was all smiles after his mom, Lauren, put him in the seat of a tractor.
“He loves tractors, he just love vehicles,” said Laura Whiteside, who also brought her other children, Maddie, 9, Allie, 7, and Gabbie, 4.
“We’ve never been to a Touch-a-Truck event before,” Whiteside said. “I’ve heard of them and decided to come. It’s really a nice event here.”
Vanessa Favia of Hinsdale brought her children, Isabella, 2; and Frank, 4.
Isabella was excited to have a turn sitting in the cab of the pink cement mixer, but wasn’t too crazy about the idea of getting out.
“They love construction equipment,” Favia said. “This is a great way for them to see it up-close and be able to get on.”
