On Thursday, Steppenwolf announced the lineup for its fall 2018 “Lookout” series, with a shorter list of performers staging longer engagements.
Kicking things off will be Steppenwolf’s involvement with “Destinos,”the 2nd Chicago International Latino Theater Festival (Sept. 20-Oct. 14). One of many venues in the citywide fest, Steppenwolf will host:

Next will be “Our Perspective: Asian American Play Readings,” curated by Mia Park (Oct. 22). Along with other venues like Victory Gardens, Steppenwolf will host a night of readings dedicated to Asian American playwrights.
Third on the roster is “The Better Half” from Lucky Plush Productions (Nov. 2-17). Co-created and -directed by Julia Rhoads and Leslie Danzing, the devised dance piece riffs on the 1944 thriller “Gaslight.”
Lucky Plush will also present the fourth installment in the “Lookout” series, offering a work-in-progress showing of “Rink Life,” a dance-theater performance paying homage to the aesthetics of roller rink culture (Nov. 10 and 17).
Finally, Every House Has a Door will present “Scarecrow,” directed by Lin Hixson (Nov. 30-Dec. 2). Co-devised and performed by Matthew Ghoulish and Essi Kausalainen, the two artists will join local child performers to explore inter-species communication and the slow progress of the snail.
