Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

American goalkeeper Bill Hamid has returned to DC United on a year-and-a-half loan from Danish club Midtjylland, the MLS club announced Wednesday.

Hamid, 27, joined Midtjylland on a permanent deal in October 2017 after his contract expired with DC United.

“Bill moved to FC Midtjylland at the end of last year and it was an important step in his personal and professional development. He’s a major part of the fabric of this club with his local ties, Homegrown history and on-field accomplishments so bringing him back on loan is a great acquisition as we make a push for playoffs at Audi Field,” said club General Manager and VP of Soccer Operations Dave Kasper in a statement.

“He’s a leader on and off the field and we’re excited to welcome him back to the club he worked tirelessly for over eight seasons.”

Hamid made only three appearances for Midtjylland in the Danish Superligaen and the Danish Cup.

Before leaving for Denmark, Hamid was the club’s first Homegrown Player and set club records in starts, minutes played, wins, saves and shutouts across eight seasons with DC.
