On Tuesday, the New Colony announced the lineup for its 2018-19 season, under the new artistic direction of Fin Coe and Stephanie Shum.
Following a special run of the company’s hit show “The Light” (Aug. 21-24), “Fun Harmless Warmachine” will make its world premiere. Written by Coe and directed by James Fleming, the story follows a loser named Tom who gets sucked into a toxic online gaming community (Oct. 3-Nov. 4).
The second world premiere of the season follows with “Small World” by Jillian Leff and Joe Lino (March 27-May 5, 2019). Under the direction of Andrew Hobgood, the show chronicles three cast members trapped inside of Disneyworld’s “It’s a Small World.”
The company’s Uncharted Festival will wrap the season (July 11-21, 2019). The two-week series showcases new works from Chicago playwrights developed, incubated and curated by the New Colony.
While the summer engagement of “The Light” will be staged at Theater on the Lake, 2401 N. Lake Shore Dr, the New Colony’s regular season will be held at the Den Theatre, 1331 N. Milwaukee Ave.
