Lincolnwood School District 74 officials announced that the Lincolnwood Support Staff Union has ratified a new four-year union contract that was to be effect as of earlier this month.

The Board of Education was set to vote on the contract at its June 28 meeting, and officials said in a statement that the school board and the LSSU met multiple times since April 2018 to negotiate terms of the contract.

“We are extremely pleased with the positive bargaining that took place with the Board of Education. The resulting agreement is very fair and we look forward to another successful, productive four years serving the children of Lincolnwood School District 74,” Lincolnwood Support Staff Union President Carol Krikorian and Vice President Georgia Theodorakakis said in a statement.

The contract runs through 2022 and covers non-certified full- and part-time employees, including aides, maintenance and custodial workers, and technology, clerical and administrative personnel.

Steve Robertson will act as the union’s new president, while Tammer Gad will serve as LSSU’s new vice president, according to the statement.

The approved contract is effective July 1.

“We are fortunate to have a very good group of employees, many of whom have devoted the bulk of their working lives to this district. They are very much a part of the success we have achieved and are vested in this district’s future success,” said school board President Scott Anderson. “Our goal was to reach an agreement that provides market-sensitive salary adjustments to our current employees and allows us to continue offering competitive salaries to new employees.”

Anderson said this contract achieves both goals.
