Crime, Russia, sexual depravity — before 2016, Fyodor Dostoyevsky was the cultural figure most associated with this triptych, especially because of his novel “Crime and Punishment.” On Tuesday, Shattered Globe announced casting for its adaptation of the sordid story, which follows Raskolnikov as he ducks and dodges an investigating magistrate, making for a psychological thriller driven by disillusionment.

Adapted by Chris Hannan and directed by ensemble member Louis Contey, the show’s cast includes: Christopher Acevedo (Skabichevsky, Lebezyatnikov, Doctor, Ilya Petrovich), Christina Gorman (Dunya), Daria Harper (Pulkheria, Alyona), Darren Jones (Marmeladov, Nikolai), Rebecca Jordan (Katerina, Darya), Jazzma Pryor (Nastasya, Lizaveta, Amalia), Drew Schad (Raskolnikov), Patrick Thornton (Porfiry Petrovich), Joe Wiens (Razumikhin), Brad Woodard (Luzhin, Koch, Priest) and Ilse Zacharias (Sonya).

The first show of Shattered Globe’s 2018-19 season, “Crime and Punishment” will play September 6 – October 20 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave.
