player ready...Rain delayed the start of Saturday’s annual Clarendon Hills Park District Fishing Derby at Prospect Park by about one hour.
But it didn’t prevent about 60 participants from seeing what they could pull out of the pond at the park.
“It was a great turnout, considering the weather and late start,” said Valerie Louthan, the park district’s aquatic/recreation supervisor.
The park district recognized winners in four age-group categories:
• 7 and under: Tyler Westberg, 20.5 inches
• 8-12: Bryleigh Pano, 21.5 inches
• 13-17: Sam Costello, 19 inches
• 18 and older: Marcus Davis, 21.5 inches
The park district’s next special event is Dash-N-Splash at 6:30 p.m. July 27.
The fun run starts in the Lions Park Pool parking lot and heads down Byrd Court to the intersection at Ann Street, with a return trip back and into the pool.
All participants will run the course three times, which equals 0.7 miles.
