Starting things up in the fall will be the Chicago premiere of “This Bitter Earth” by Harrison David Rivers (Nov.1—Dec. 8). Directed by Mikael Burke, this romance follows Jesse, a black playwright whose boyfriend Neil, a white Black Lives Matter activist, calls him out for his political apathy, forcing the two to reckon with their identities.
The second show of the season will be the Chicago premiere of “Dada Woof Papa Hot,” a comedy about gay parenting and modern families from Peter Parnell, directed by About Face artistic associate Keira Fromm (Jan. 10–Feb. 16, 2019).
Finally, the last show of the season will be the world premiere of “20/20,” devised by AFT artists with the company’s youth theatre ensemble (Summer 2019). Directed by About Face’s artistic director, Megan Carney, the show will be a citywide multi-generational performance that gathers lessons from the LGBTQ+ past to mobilize for a better future.
About Face Theatre is in residence at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave.
